Sometimes I still miss getting on the scale each morning

October 3, 2020

Sometimes I still miss getting on the scale each morning.

Because I’m human.
Because we are immersed in a diet culture that wants us to be thin.

But you and I are more than our weight.
We are more than the number on the scale.

We’ve learned to make the number on the scale our measure of worthiness.
But a scale is just a scale, another piece of furniture, UNLESS you give it the power to tell how you should feel about yourself on any given day 😃😫😤

I stopped weighing myself many months ago. When I saw that the battery was dying, I took it as a sign that I had enough and I never replaced it 🔋.
I’m now more focused on my energy level during the day, on how my clothes fit, how my skin feels like as a result of my lifestyle changes.
I’m more focused on what I see making a positive impact on my mood, on my ability to focus on my business and other priorities.

And I’ve come to realise that the scale has nothing to do with all this.

🤔If you were to ditch the scale today, what might be a new measure of your progress toward what you aspire to be?

Have a great mindful day 😊
